Empowering Black Men through Social Media
This week, we’re featuring African American men on the Connecticut Health Foundation (CT Health) blog, and who better to kick off the week than Brandon Frame? Brandon is Director of Business Partnerships at High School, Inc. (right around the corner from us in Hartford) and Chief Visionary Officer of The Black Man Can. The Black Man Can is more than a blog, it’s a social media movement that actively promotes a positive black male image to uplift, inspire, and empower not only black males, but also the black community and society as a whole. The Black Man Can has regular weekly features – everything from interviews with upstanding African American men to advice on how to dress – and also a weekly feature on African American women. The blog is infused with the same generosity, enthusiasm, and good spirit that Brandon brings in person.
Brandon runs a tweetchat on Mondays called #blackmenmondays where he often promotes good health. In today’s video, he talks about that tweetchat as well as the role of social media in empowering black men and women.
