In the News: CT Health Foundation says faith-based groups key to ending ‘scream rooms’

“By working with children to bring their behavioral problems under control, there will no longer be a need for time out rooms.”

 

So-called “scream rooms” have been in the news frequently this January. These time out rooms in public schools are meant to help “out-of-control” children calm down. But is locking a child in a windowless room really the answer? Outraged parents say no.

 

We at Connecticut Health Foundation (CT Health) agree. Read the article in The Middletown Press about the collaborative at the Bielfield Elementary School in Middletown, which includes the faith-based community, and how it is successfully helping children in need.
