The Omega Foundation of Hartford is focused on African American men in zip code 06120 (the North End of Hartford), but Gregory M. Jones (Chairman) knows that it doesn’t matter where you live, if you’re of African American descent, you are one of the most challenged demographics there is.

Black males have the shortest life span of all racial or ethnic groups in the nation– a fact that has remained unchanged for at least the past 100 years. The Omega Foundation’s website offers this and other sobering statistics to highlight the huge need for better health for this population.

Greg is becoming known as the face of black men’s health through his outreach efforts to improve the health of African American men. The Omega Foundation is going to barbershops, churches, and community centers to find the men where they are, and engage them in a conversation about health.

How successful has the Omega Foundation been? We’ll let Greg tell you himself.
