Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness, Inc.

2011 - $10,000

Armed with Data to Inform Public Policy
Chronically ill patients can face numerous obstacles to managing their health and maneuvering within the health care system. To identify the most urgent obstacles, Advocacy for Patients conducted a survey of Connecticut residents with the University of Michigan Center for Managing Chronic Disease. Initial findings revealed that cost was the biggest barrier to medical treatment, even when the patients were insured. CT Health awarded Advocacy for Patients a $10,000 grant to analyze the wealth of data from the survey, and to publish public policy documents for advocacy.
