Fiscal Agent: Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach. Good oral health care is critical for pregnant women. Despite this, only 20% to 50% of women report seeking dental care while pregnant.
The Connecticut Foundation for Dental Outreach (CFDO) will implement a pilot project to educate, treat and find a dental home for pregnant women who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to access dental care. The pilot will take place during the CFDO’s annual Mission of Mercy event to be held in Hartford in 2014. Dentists will be trained to treat pregnant women during the event, with the expectation that this will result in an increase in the number of dentists who will treat pregnant women going forward.
