Ensuring access to oral health care requires regular advocacy. As part of their advocacy work, the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative (COHI) promotes increased access to oral health care for children and the inclusion of oral health into the broader spectrum of primary health.
With this grant, COHI plans to increase access to quality care through systems’ changes that will affect the underserved populations of Connecticut. Priorities within this grant are addressing oral health as an integral part of overall health, addressing the considerable gap for adults and children who require a stand-alone dental plan through Access Health CT, and changing the oral health systems that surround pregnant women. COHI will also monitor policy activity in Connecticut and take action as necessary.
