Connecticut Voices for Children

2015 - $100,000

Connecticut Voices for Children’s (CT Voices) mission is to provide high-quality research, policy advocacy and communications that promote strategic investments in the health and well-being of all of our state’s children.

CT Voices acts as advocate and influencer with leadership positions on the State Innovation Model (SIM) Consumer Advisory Board, Council of Medical Assistance Program Oversight (Husky/Medicaid authority), and the Medicaid Strategy Group. CT Voices is also a leading advocate around achieving a no wrong door Medicaid-Access Health CT enrollment system, as well as promoting policy issues to help keep children and families continuously covered by the affordable health insurance.

CT Voices will monitor and promote health insurance coverage, promote integration of medical, mental, and oral health care through SIM and the children’s behavioral health plan, promote access to oral health for low income families, and promote increased investment in a quality children’s mental health system while decreasing reliance on the juvenile justice and child welfare systems.

CT Voices’ initiative aligns with CT Health’s health equity objective of promoting insurance enrollment and navigation support systems that will increase and maintain coverage and fostering the inclusion of physical, mental, and dental health in an integrated health care system.

This grant will provide general operating support.
