Oral Health

Institute for Community Research

2014 - $60,000

Good oral health begins in the womb, because tooth decay is an infectious, transmissible disease from mother to child. And yet despite ongoing work to develop guidance for dental offices, pregnant women receive care that varies from office to office.

The Institute for Community Research will examine why some dental practices are reluctant to treat pregnant women. Findings will be used to develop a test program aimed at reducing dental practices’ resistance to treating pregnant women.
