Description

Derby is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s five-year children’s mental health initiative to create community-based systems of secondary prevention.

Each community has designed their pilot site to fit the particular needs of their community. The Derby community has involved the education and mental health systems, as well as the Derby Police Department. In its second year of implementation, police called to schools referred  children to community mental health supports rather than automatic arrest.  During this third year of funding,  the Derby pilot will build upon this change and expand portals to care into the neighboring town of Ansonia as well as with pediatric providers.
