Butler Previously Served On The Foundation's Racial & Ethnic Health Disparities Policy Panel NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Jan. 22, 2007) - Gregory Butler, senior vice president and general counsel of the Northeast Utilities system (NU), was recently appointed to a three-year term on the Connecticut Health Foundation (CT Health) board of directors, Chair Leo Canty announced during a recent board meeting. "We are pleased that Greg, who served as a member of CT Health's Racial and Ethnic Health Care Disparities Policy Panel for 18 months, is joining our board. He brings an array of experience and commitment as a leader in the nonprofit, government and corporate communities," says Canty. "I look forward to working with Greg on how the Foundation can better achieve our mission of improving the health of all state residents through public policy research and our three grant-making priority areas - children's mental health, oral health, and racial and ethnic health disparities." In addition to the CT Health board, Butler serves on the board of directors of The Mark Twain House & Museum, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Northeast Utilities Foundation, the New England Legal Foundation. He is also a committee member of the Energy Bar Association. A recipient of the NAACP (Waterbury Chapter) "Humanitarian of the Year" award, Butler has served on the Connecticut Board of Parole and as past president of the Buckingham Congregational Church. "I'm quite honored and humbled to be a part of this group [CT Health] because I think they're doing some terrific and unprecedented work in the area of health care," says Butler. "I look forward to contributing to their work ahead and learning more about the health care challenges we face in Connecticut."
