Low-Income Elderly and Disabled Would Be Severely Affected by Medicaid Premiums (12/30/03) A study shows that if the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) charges almost 30,000 low-income elderly and disabled residents for their public health care, nearly 25 percent or 7,330 of these individuals will lose coverage because they cannot afford to pay monthly premiums.

Foundation Approves More Than $3.3 Million in Grant Funding (12/23/03) Continuing its support of oral health collaboratives that were created to double the number of HUSKY A enrollees who receive dental care, the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Health Foundation (CT Health) approved a total of $2.24 million to four collaboratives and awarded a grand total of $3,319,686 during its quarterly meeting in mid-December.

HUSKY A Enrollment Could Decline By 30 Percent If Premiums Are Imposed (11/19/03) If Connecticut imposes health insurance premiums on low-income state Medicaid beneficiaries as required by this year’s budget, more than 86,000 children and their parents could lose their safety net health coverage, according to a policy brief released at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
