Children's Mental Health

Family Services of Greater Waterbury, Inc.

2011 - $135,000

Waterbury is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s children’s mental health initiative to create community-based systems of secondary prevention. Each community has designed their pilot site to fit the particular needs of their community. The Waterbury pilot has involved the education system, Youth Service Bureau, mental health system, and a strong link to the city-wide initiative, Bridge to Success.

In its second year of implementation, the Waterbury community demonstrated innovation in connecting to the Latino community and minimizing the stigma in addressing mental health. During this third year of funding, the Waterbury pilot will broaden linkages into the community with other organizations.
