Derby is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s five-year children’s mental health initiative to create community-based systems of secondary prevention.
Each community has designed their pilot site to fit the particular needs of their community. The Derby community has involved the education and mental health systems, as well as the Derby Police Department. In its third year of implementation, the Derby pilot deepened its work with the police, training law enforcement in evidence-based Triple P interventions. Derby also expanded its portals of care into the neighboring town of Ansonia.
During this fourth year of funding, the Derby pilot will continue to expand further into the Valley, and solidify the sustainability of the community via targeted fundraising efforts.
