This organization is a recipient of the Trusted Messengers to Support Health Coverage grant and will share important information about health care coverage with their communities. The messaging activities are related to two major changes in health care coverage taking place this year: HUSKY redeterminations and new HUSKY coverage for children under age 13 regardless of immigration status.
Madonna Center will use a bilingual community health worker to provide outreach to children and families in Eastern Connecticut on both the need for redetermination for Medicaid benefits and HUSKY expansion. The organization has served as a trusted messenger to people of color through its health and education programs, basic needs services and early care and education work. The CHW will use broad outreach strategies (social media campaign and flier distribution) as well as 1:1 conversations and focus groups.
