Connecticut Health I-Team

2011 - $10,000

As newspapers, radio and television have been downsized in recent years, health coverage has taken a hard hit. The Connecticut Health Investigative Team (C-HIT) fills this gap by covering health through in-depth issue stories, providing direct access to searchable data on health facilities and outcomes to the public, and acts as a mini syndicated news service by disseminating content to media outlets throughout the state, including The New London Day, New Haven Independent, ctmirror.org, and WNPR, among others. With this grant, C-HIT will leverage a larger grant they are seeking from the James Knight Foundation, which they expect will help them hire a reporter, disseminate content, host summer workshops, and create a searchable database such as an iPhone app.
