Children's Mental Health

Connecticut Legal Rights Project

2011 - $17,000

According to researchers at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, 68 percent of women and 57 percent of men with psychiatric disorders are parents. And yet, these parents are often afraid to seek treatment for their illness out of fear that they will lose custody of their children, traumatizing them both. The Connecticut Legal Rights Project will use this grant to support a work group consisting of state and private agencies that will improve interagency collaboration and protocols for those working with parents with mental illness.
