The Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council (GNEMSDC) is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s (CT Health) initiative to support diverse advocacy and consumer engagement in health reform. By engaging more organizations led by and serving consumers of color in health reform, the state’s health care access and delivery system transformations will be better positioned to equitably serve all Connecticut residents.
GNEMSDC is a Bridgeport, CT and Boston, MA based regional nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for certified minority businesses. GNEMSDC will conduct a 12-month project to provide outreach and information sessions to minority businesses across the state in order to encourage them to enroll their business and employees in health insurance coverage through Access Health CT. GNEMSDC will partner with a team of brokers to directly enroll up to 1,000 uninsured businesses and their employees in health insurance coverage.
GNEMSDC’s initiative is aligned with CT Health’s health equity goal of promoting insurance enrollment and navigation support systems that will increase and maintain coverage.
Grant funds will cover staffing, technology, and meeting expenses.
