Middletown is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s children’s five-year mental health initiative to create community-based systems of secondary prevention.
Each community has designed their pilot site to fit the particular needs of their community. The Middletown community has involved the education system, faith-based community, and Middlesex Hospital. In its fourth year of implementation, the Middletown pilot enjoyed continued programmatic success and widespread involvement in the program.
In its fifth and final year of funding, the Middletown pilot will focus on increasing linkages to primary care, implementing a faith-based strategy to expand into the Latino community, and to focus on their sustainability plan.
