Middletown is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s children’s mental health initiative to create community-based systems of secondary prevention. Each community has designed their pilot site to fit the particular needs of their community. The Middletown community has involved the education system, faith-based community, and Middlesex Hospital.
In its second year of implementation, the Middletown community implemented and integrated early identification and intervention protocols with the scientific research-based interventions (SRBI) education model, adopted by the local school system, and will expand into another school. During this third year of funding, the Middletown pilot will finalize its expansion into another school, and develop a manual to help other sections of the community repeat this success.
