Middletown is one of four pilot communities involved in the Connecticut Health Foundation’s children’s mental health initiative to create community-based systems of secondary prevention. Each community has designed their pilot site to fit the particular needs of their community. The Middletown community has involved the education system, faith-based community, and Middlesex Hospital.
In its third year of implementation, expanded to include an additional elementary school, and developed a manual to help other sections of the Middletown area repeat this success. During this fourth year of funding, the pilot will leverage a faith-based strategy to expand into the Latino community, and work to increase involvement of the Middletown public school system.
